Joe Coelho is an Assistant Professor of Biology at Quincy University in Quincy, Illinois, where he teaches biology classes and performs research on the physiological ecology of insects. His career as an outdoor writer is currently on hiatus, although occasionally his urge to write cannot be restrained. Much of his blog is in the style of an outdoor writer. His column, "The Sporting Life," garnered a number of awards in the Illinois Press Association's annual competition in the Class A Sports Column category.
